Both an imaginative exploration of shapes and a tale of individuality and inclusion. The first collaboration between a husband-and-wife team.

No matter how hard she tries, Triangle doesn’t roll like the circles, or stack like the squares…so she sets off to find friends that look exactly like her. But when she finds the other triangles, playtime isn’t as fun. She misses the shapes that roll and stack; she misses being different. So she starts a new quest, one that gets all of the different shapes playing and having fun together!

Children’s book with nude pictures causes a stir in France

February 18, 2014 By achuka Leave a Comment

in France, one children’s book is causing a political stir with its depictions of adults in the altogether called ‘Tous à Poil’, which translates at ‘All In The Buff’.

The book has comical drawings of ordinary people – policemen, bakers, and teachers – taking off their clothes with the aim of teaching small children not to be obsessed with perfect bodies.

Brighton’s leading tech startups | Technology | The Observer

January 13, 2014 By achuka 2 Comments

This weekend’s Observer Tech Monthly featured “The Best of British Startups” as represented outside of London in places like Brighton, Edinburgh, Bristol & Bath and Belfast (these four given double-page spreads); also Newcastle and Manchester (both full-page spreads); with other cities summarised on a final page listing.

It struck me how few of these companies are focused on children’s entertainment or education, an exception being Brighton-based Lighthouse Learning, co-directed by Danielle Barnetche and Alex McGregor.

This company’s tagline is “Where learning is delightful” and they have so far created two well-received apps – Dragon Shapes: Geometry Challenge and Shape Arts: Geometry Creations.
