Hi<\/p>\n

I founded ACHUKA way back in the summer of 1997, when my eyebrows were more closely the colour seen in the image above, having bought a book called Teach Yourself Web Publishing With HTML 3.2 In A Week by Laura LeMay.<\/p>\n

[I wrote more about the early days of ACHUKA on its 25th anniversary<\/a>.]<\/p>\n

Well, it took me four weeks, not one, but by the end of that August I had a website and a whole lot of hits.<\/p>\n

In those days there were not many sites dedicated to children’s books, particularly in the UK, and for a while ACHUKA became the go-to place for children’s books news and features about authors.<\/p>\n

Things have changed a lot. Now there is a multitude of sites and blogs and vlogs all being extremely enthusiastic about children’s publishing. And I’m very happy about that.<\/p>\n

In 2017 ACHUKA quietly celebrated its twentieth<\/strong> continuous year online and we’re now heading towards an astounding thirtieth<\/strong> anniversary.<\/p>\n

As well as writing for ACHUKA I’ve been a reviewer for various publications, including The Scotsman, Literary Review and Times Educational Supplement and I’m the author of books about Melville & Hawthorne, Tennyson and William Cowper.<\/p>\n

These days my primary interests alongside ACHUKA are photography and screenwriting.<\/p>\n
