ACHUKA loves Marie Dorléans’ work. Our Fort was one of our 5 Books of the Year in 2022 and this title will be a strong contender when it comes to choosing our favourite books of 2025. It was first published in French in 2023. Dorléans brings the story, about a transformative watering can written by a French singer-songwriter, boldly to life with her hallmark mix of precision and expressiveness.
On her way home one day, Nina finds a yellow watering can on the sidewalk. “It’s just an old piece of junk,” says her neighbour. Nina disagrees.
