Opening instalment of a 3-part look back at the first 6 months of 2015
A series of photographic portraits of booksellers in their domains…

One of the features of Flickr I enjoy a lot is the ability to create Galleries of different types of photo – it appeals to the curator in me – this collection of Profiles (a form of portrait for which I have a particular fondness) was one of the first I created. I now have several volumes of Profiles galleries. This, at one time, would have contained the maximum 18 images, which prompted me to create Profiles vol.ii and so on. The fact that there are just 12 images there now means that certain users have left Flickr, or made their photos private.
Flickr’s own links to Gallery collections are not great, so I intend building my own Galleries listing page in the near future.
Mexican Portraits includes more than 350 portraits from over eighty anonymous and well-known Mexican photographers, including Manuel Álvarez Bravo, Agustín V. Casasola, Romualdo García, Graciela Iturbide, and Enrique Metinides.
Including both contemporary and classic works, mostly created from the 1970s to the present, this diverse group of images has been selected by photographer and editor Pablo Ortiz Monasterio, in conjunction with curator Vesta Mónica Herrerías, and presents an idiosyncratic and personal perspective on this particular genre.
