Anthony Horowitz Denies He Is Next Doctor Who Showrunner…
According to Bleedingcool.com, Morris posted on Facebook that Steven Moffat is to be replaced by Anthony Horowitz OBE as show runner. Horowitz, for those lagging behind the rumour-machine, is an award-winning children’s author and screenwriter with a long history of output. He created the WWII detective series Foyle’s War which, (according the Internet’s main source of truth) was brought back after cancellation in 2007 due to the complaints and demands of fans. Sound familiar? He’s written several mini-series, episodes of Midsomer Murders and Poirot. He, err, also created Crime Traveller. But we can forgive him that. I think. #paleimitations …the OBE’s for contributions to literature (!) and his Alex Rider graphic novels for children have been made into a film. He’s currently working on a screenplay for Disney (more below) so he’s what you might call *big guns*. A serious contender perhaps?Morris’s claim about the imminent replacement of Moffat was apparently embedded in a general expression of dissatisfaction with the show’s current format and direction – too much Victorian London (blasphemy!) The site suggests a background to this implying in previous articles that things have not been entirely chipper between Morris and Moffat for a while.
Horowitz seems to have initially quashed this rumour with a stone cold “unlikely.”
But before you can say “I FOUND EPISODE FOUR OF TENTH PLANET” he’s changed his tune to “interesting” and replying to questions on the rumour’s veracity with “who knows”…
