This story about two snakes who don’t always see eye to eye but nevertheless remain best and inseparable friends is my favourite Olivier Tallec title to date. And Gecko Press’s hardback edition has been printed on beautifully thick paper with very stylish end papers.
General book prices, including for paperbacks, have been rising to such an extent that, relatively, a well-produced children’s picture book such as this has become excellent value for money.
Red Snake and Blue Snake have been friends since they were small, but that doesn’t mean they see things the same way.
When Red Snake says the sky is grey, Blue Snake insists it’s blue. The cactus looks just like a ghost—or a mitten. With so much to debate, can the snakes stay friends?
The two stubborn reptiles start their morning with a little yoga, watch the clouds, bicker about this and that, narrowly escape being captured by a snake charmer, and end the day very nearly agreeing on something.
Tallec’s knack for high comedy is a highlight of this bright story that reminds us how opposite points of view can be equally true.
