TWO BOOK DEAL FOR MACMILLAN
In what The Bookseller describes as a “fierce” auction, Macmillan Children’s Books have secured have world rights for two books by Sophie Cameron
The first title, Out Of The Blue, will be published in the UK in spring 2018.
DEALS AT HACHETTE IMPRINTS
Quercus Children’s Books has acquired Ariadnis, a fantasy YA début by Josh Martin. Then deal includes a second book.
Sarah Lambert, editorial director at Quercus Children’s and Hodder Children’s, told The Bookseller: “We see Ariadnis sitting alongside the hottest contemporary fantasy novels, such as The Sin Eater’s Daughter [by Melinda Salisbury, Scholastic] and Red Queen [by Victoria Aveyard, Orion].”
Orchard Books have signed a three-book deal with German publisher Coppenrath for a teen series called Dark Matter from Teri Terry.
The first title, Contagion, will be published in the UK in May 2017.
Hachette Children’s Group has also won an eight-publisher Frankfurt auction to acquire debut children’s author Jessica Townsend.
The first story in a middle grade trilogy, will be published under the Orion Children’s imprint in the UK, although title and publication date are yet to be announced.
Helen Thomas, editorial director at HCG imprint, bought the novel in a three-book, world-right ‘six-figure’ deal.
The new author, previously a copywriter and the editor of a children’s wildlife magazine for Steve Irwin’s Australia Zoo, is based in Australia.
