It has just been announced that poet, broadcaster and lecturer Michael Rosen will chair the CLiPPA (CLPE Children’s Poetry Award) 2020 judging panel.
He is joined by poets Valerie Bloom and Steven Camden (winner of the CLiPPA 2019), together with Tracey Guiry, director of the Poetry Archive, and Charlotte Hacking, Central Learning Programmes Leader at CLPE.
Louise Johns-Shepherd, Chief Executive of the CLPE, said: ‘We are delighted to have such a wealth of expertise, understanding and passion for poetry on our 2020 judging panel. This year we hope to involve more schools and children than ever before in the CLiPPA and are so pleased to have such a distinguished group of judges to help us highlight this important branch of children’s literature’.
The shortlist for the CLiPPA 2020 will be announced on Monday 20th April, and the Shadowing Scheme will launch on 11th May.
For the fifth consecutive year, the shortlist and shadowing schools will be celebrated at a special live poetry show at the National Theatre, this year taking place on 13th July, when the winner will be announced.
In a new development, thanks to funding from Arts Council England and support from ALCS, CLPE will be able to live-stream the CLiPPA award ceremony, bringing poetry directly to schools around the country.
The CLiPPA, which remains the only annual award in the UK for published poetry for children, also has a new logo (see above).
