ACHUKA Book of the Day 14 Aug 2020

Publishing early September.

We love this picture book. The full-bleed illustrations are marvellously atmospheric. There is no white space to distract the eye. We are fully immersed in the visually poetic storytelling, while the words speak in the voice of the mystery girl. Is she spirit, ghost, dreamer or a poor lost wandering soul.

A picture book that could be shared and discussed with older children and used as a stimulus for their own creations, in words or pictures or both.

Very young children will either adore it or be a little in awe of it. As with all the best, most enduring picture books, it is a beautiful object to hold.

Both writer and illustrator are Australian and the book is published by Allen & Unwin.
