As The Bookseller reports below, Nosy Crow will not be producing any more apps in-house.
This is remarkable but not surprising news. Remarkable because app development was at the forefront of Nosy Crow’s vision when it was founded and if anyone was going to make publishing of digital material work it was going to be Kate Wilson. The fact that she has given it up as a lost cause is enormously telling.
“It seems that many parents don’t choose to spend money on digital content for children and fewer children and their parents are reading on screen than we had hoped,” she told The Bookseller. ” It makes sense for us to focus our resources on the resilient children’s print market and on the area of the business where we are enjoying… success,” she added.
