Marion Lloyd and Alison Green are to leave Macmillan and work with Kate Wilson (also previously at Macmillan) who is now Group MD at Scholastic.

They will both head up eponymous children's book imprints, Marion Lloyd Books and Alison Green Books.

Kate Wilson, Group MD, Scholastic UK, says:

I am very happy to have the opportunity to work with both Marion and Alison once again. I value Marion's astute judgement of potential, her editorial rigour and her caring approach to authors and colleagues very highly. Alison's editorial skills and instincts and her eye for illustration and for paper-engineering are unparalleled. I believe that Scholastic can give them, and the authors and illustrators they work with, remarkable opportunities to succeed in the UK and internationally.

Marion Lloyd Books will be a children's fiction imprint. Marion is currently Associate Publisher at Macmillan Children's Books. She has been involved in the publishing industry for 30 years, and has built a reputation for publishing great children's and teenage fiction, including best-selling and award-winning British authors like Eva Ibbotson, Peter
Dickinson, Geogia Byng and Elizabeth Laird. She also spent some time as a
club editor with Red House prior to its acquisition by Scholastic.

Marion says:

I am very excited by the challenge of creating a new fiction list in a business with a unique ability to get books directly into children's hands through their school clubs and fairs. I am also excited by the publishing opportunities in a worldwide company entirely focussed on creating and selling books and entertainment for children and communicating with teachers and parents. And I look forward to working once again with the inspirational Kate Wilson.
Alison Green Books will be a picture book and novelty book imprint. Alison has been involved in the publishing industry for almost 20 years, beginning at Methuen, now Egmont, with intensive work on the character list including Winnie the Pooh. Since then, as Editorial Director and then as Associate Publisher, she has been key to building Macmillan's world-class picture book and novelty list, publishing, amongst others, Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler whose book, THE GRUFFALO is a modern classic.

Alison says:

I am delighted to be joining Scholastic after ten very happy years at Macmillan. I'm very much looking forward to developing new and exciting picture books and novelty books for a company whose main aim is to get children reading. I believe that, with its clubs, fairs and international connections, Scholastic offers unique opportunities to authors, illustrators and their editors, and I could not be more pleased to be joining the company.

It will also, of course, be fantastic to be working with Kate Wilson again. Kate and I have worked together for over fifteen years, and she remains the most dynamic and creative individual I have ever met in my publishing career.
