The first volume of the Box of Dust, La Belle Sauvage by Philip Pullman as been chosen as Waterstones Book of the Year for 2017.
“This is a winner that is going to bring a lot of pleasure to an ever-widening audience,” declared James Daunt, “and we could not be more pleased to play our part in its success.”
Set in the world so masterfully established by Philip Pullman in his trilogy His Dark Materials, La Belle Sauvage is a story of survival, where two children, with everything at stake, find themselves pursued by a terrifying evil. In their care is a tiny child, and in that child lies the fate of the future.
To celebrate Philip Pullman’s win, Waterstones is presenting a very special edition of the book. The volume arrives in an exclusive cloth jacket, enhanced by gold foil and embossed finishes, a gold ribbon marker and endpapers of the London and Oxford skylines.
Designed by illustrator Chris Wormell, each special edition of La Belle Sauvage contains one of six Ex Libris daemon bookplates, featuring key daemons from the text. Which daemon will be yours?
The special edition is priced £25
