Biographical Sketch
Philip Ardagh was born and grew up in Kent and was educated in a number
of different schools in Kent of Sussex, most of which have since closed.
He worked as a writer in an advertising agency in the early 1980s, which
was a brilliant discipline for his current work. "It was all about trying
to get across information in a fun and informative way in a variety
of media: tv, radio and print."
His first published work was in a school magazine when he was about
six. It was a short story about a monster who lived in a pool in a cave
and frightened a woman called Mrs. Brown. Phil seems to remember it
ended with her saying she wouldn’t go swimming there again! "Wise woman."
The first titles in a new series of short biographies about key historical
figures appeared in the summer of 1999.
He now lives on the East Sussex coast with his wife and two cats.
