Diana Wynne Jones


Biographical Sketch

Diana Wynne Jones was born in London in 1934 and grew up in a village in Essex. She was educated at The Friends' School, Saffron Walden and at St. Anne's College, Oxford.

Her first published work was Wilkins' Tooth, since when she has won the Guardian Award in 1977 for Charmed Life; the Boston Globe Award (twice); the Mythopaeic Society Award (again twice); and the Karl Edward Wagner Award, given for services to Fantasy. She has been hortlisted twice for the Carnegie Medal and was a runner-up for the Children's Book Award in 1981.

Married, with three sons, Diana Wynne Jones has lived for many years in Bristol, currently lives in a house that even taxi drivers cannot find.
