Diana Hendry--a poet, children's author and short-story writer--has published nearly thirty books for children, ranging from picture book texts to a teenage novel. Fiona Finds Her Tongue was shortlisted for the Smartie Award in 1985 and Harvey Angell won the Whitbread Children's Book Award in 1991. A sequel, Harvey Angell and the Ghost Child was published in 1997.
Diana has published two collections of poetry--one for adults, Making Blue, the other for children, Strange Goings-On.
Diana lives in Bristol, where she has worked as a tutor in creative writing at the university and for one year was Writer-in-Residence at Fairfield Grammar School. She is now Writer-in-Residence at Dumfries & Galloway Royal Infirmary. Later in 1998 she will be touring the Shetland Isles with the Scottish Book Trust's Readiscovery bus.
