ohn Parr Miller, an early animator for Walt Disney whose later art adorned best-selling children's books, including those in the popular Little Golden Books series, died on Oct. 29 on Long Island. He was 91 and lived in Manhasset, N.Y.

Harry Hargreaves, who has died aged 82, was a cartoonist who produced "the bird" for Punch and Hayseeds in the London Evening News; perhaps his most popular work, however, was his series of drawings illustrating Michael Bond's Paddington Bear stories for the Blue Peter annuals.

Nancy Larrick, 93, wrote guides to kids' reading

... Her most popular work, "A Parent's Guide to Children's Reading," was published in 1958 and reprinted six times.

Sequels included "Your Child and His Reading: How Parents Can Help" (1960), "A Teacher's Guide to Children's Books" (1963) and nine other books for adults. She wrote or edited almost 30 books for children, including at least 14 poetry anthologies...
