2013 Bologna Ragazzi Digital Prize for Non-fiction Goes To... War Horse iPad App

Egmont has announced that the prestigious 2013 Bologna Ragazzi Digital Prize for Non-fiction has been won by its War Horse iPad app.

The four judges considered 243 entries from 32 different countries for the award and unanimously chose Egmont's War Horse app as the nonfiction winner, describing it as "a towering achievement in the interactive non-fiction category" and that "jurors appreciated the multiple ways to explore a complicated social topic, from either the Allied or German point of view."

Cally Poplak, MD at Egmont Press said "We are delighted by this prestigious win! Just as The National Theatre used War Horse to reinvent puppet theatre, we have worked with Touch Press on War Horse to transform our notion of the enhanced ebook."

Michael Morpurgo, author of War Horse said "What a wonderful irony. Thirty years ago when War Horse was first published as a book, it failed to win anything. And now, all these years later, after becoming a wondrous play, a marvellous film, and then an amazing app, it garners awards and prizes all over the place, and now wins the Bologna Ragazzi digital prize. Bravo Joey! Bravo Egmont! Bravo Touch Press! Bravo Apple. And Bravo Bologna!"
