Joe Craig, author of the Jimmy Coates series, argues that children's creativity - particularly boys' creativity - is stifled from Y7 on by teachers who only accept 'sensible' ideas.

I'm so disappointed. Here in the states, we believe that the UK system must be inherently superior to ours. Of course, now that Latin isn't taught as much (and I suppose Greek is nonexistent as well), perhaps we don't have to feel quite so insufficient. (I'm a former Latin teacher.)
