Discovering Lacapa's book LESS THAN HALF MORE THAN WHOLE was a special
moment for our family. It was at a time when we were experiencing first
hand how powerful romantic and negative stereotypes of Native people
are.... How much they shape perceptions of who we are (not) as Native people.
Finding LESS THAN HALF, a story about present day Native kids, living in
today's world, was astounding. Finding all the cultural markers in text and
illustration throughout the book, was astounding.
What he gave to us will be treasured, always.
