Simon & Schuster Press Release, Nov 6th 2003:
Susan Price is a prize-winning and highly respected author, best known for the Guardian award-winning The Sterkarm Handshake. We are delighted to announce the acquisition of a fantastic new futuristic trilogy from her, which we believe will find her broadest audience yet.
And Jane Johnson, publisher of the Voyager list and author in her ow right under the pseudonym, Jude Fisher, now turns her hand to children's fantasy with the wonderfully imagined Secret Country.
We continue to support and develop new talent, acquiring The Printer's Devil, a fantastic adventure debut from Paul Bajoria, a recent addition to the Christopher Little stable - and an ambitious new trilogy, Tales of Hyspero, from the very individual hand of Paul Magrs, author of Strange Boy and Hands Up, and our nominee for heir to Roald Dahl's crown.
We are committed to acquiring major properties in each of our three key fiction areas, building on recent successes such as Spiderwick, but are currently concentrating on the middle fiction area, with The Printer's Devil, Secret Country and Tales of Hyspero. We think the authors of these books are stars of the future and, alongside the already stellar Susan Price, give a brilliant new look to the Simon and Schuster children's fiction list - now under the direction of Fiction Editorial Director, Venetia Gosling.
