I first encountered Joan Lowery Nixon when I was in the 5th grade and read "The Mystery of Hurricane Castle". It wasn't the last of her books that I have read. I still have that first book and still occasionally read it (I'm 45 yrs. old now) still holds up well. Mrs. Nixon was one heck of a mystery writer, the only writer to have won 4 Edgars (The Edgar Allen Poe Award for Mystery Writers). The world will surely miss her talent, but what a lagacy she has left us.
